Acacia (Acacia mangium) is a fast-growing plantation hardwood that has become an increasingly important commercial species in Thailand and Southeast Asia due to its sustainability profile and broad utility. Its moderate density of 520–680 kg/m³ and medium hardness deliver good performance in furniture, cutting surfaces and garden accessories. With EN 350 Class 2–3 durability, treated acacia performs adequately in protected exterior situations, making it suitable for garden furniture and pergola components. Its most distinctive advantage is a very short rotation period (8–12 years), making it one of the most sustainably produced commercial hardwoods available. Acacia accepts adhesives, lacquers and oils well, and its warm golden-brown colour is a genuine design asset.
